Our weekly support sessions are a great time to identify any hurdles you are facing, put in place strategies to overcome them, congratulate you on your successes and plan for the week ahead.
Neither do we! Healthy eating patterns are important for everyone, whether or not they have weight to lose. Learning how to adapt basic guidelines to suit all the different family members is an essential component to making lasting change, and you'll work with a coach to fine-tune your family's meals.
We get it. Many women have spent years looking after the needs of others and not taking time to work on themselves. Some members start with excellent fitness while others get puffed out walking from the car to the front door. The exercise is easily adapted to suit your fitness levels. You'll gradually and gently build upon that as your body becomes accustomed to the movement.
Motivation is great for getting started, but it comes and goes. The support you get at Healthy Inspirations helps turn motivation into habits, and we're always here - along with others in the centre on their own journey - to pick you up and get you back on track.
Our lives are certainly busy and there are multiple demands on us that require attention. What most of our busy members have found is that when they take time for themselves, they cope better with other responsibilities and have a lot more energy to get through their busy days. In reality, all you need is 30 minutes a couple of times per week to make a huge difference.
Donna: How are you today?
Penny: I'm good thank you, how are you?
D: I'm well, I'm well thanks for asking. Penny, can you give me a bit of information on what inspired you to join Healthy Inspirations?
P: Well I was here several years ago and my membership lapsed, and the weight was creeping back on again and my blood pressure was going up, and my diabetes was not under control - so I really needed to come back and, sort of, start taking control of my life again. And whilst I battle coming in, once I'm here I find I enjoy doing the work, and I enjoy how I feel after I've done a workout.
D: Which is important, yes, yes.
P: Yes. So there it is.
D: Back on our journey.
Donna: Hi Sandy, how are you today?
Sandy: Good Donna, thanks. Yourself?
D: I'm well, I'm well. Can you give a little bit of information on what made you join Healthy Inspirations.
S: Well, in 2012 I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and so I had to have chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and the gym that I used to go to was a male/female, so I wanted to go to an all-ladies gym, and I had previously been at Healthy Inspirations 10 years earlier so I knew it worked - it was good. So yeah, because I was having chemo and had to wear like a bandanna and I wanted to feel comfortable and yeah, I've been here ever since and I love it. It's great. Like all the ladies, feel comfortable - yeah, it's good.
D: Every so often we get you re-motivated to lose a couple of kilos.
S: Yes, well... The plan does work when you follow it.
Donna: Hi Trish, how's it all going?
Trish: Good, how are you?
D: I'm well, I'm well, it's Friday - always good. Tell me a bit of information on what got you started here at Healthy Inspirations.
T: Well, to start with I was overweight, definitely overweight, and I saw an advert, so I come and I joined.
D: Great, and how old were you when you joined?
T: I was seventy.
D: And that was obviously only a couple of years ago, wasn't it?
T: Oh, of course.
D: Trish, how much weight did you lose?
T: 17 kilos.
D: Excellent, how long did that take you?
T: Oh, about 4 months.
D: Oh good. And how difficult was it to do?
T: No, no because I was eating all the wrong foods and then when I got on a diet - you have put me on this diet - and that's when I lost it all.
D: Excellent. And you've maintained it for the duration, for the whole time.
T: Yes, I've been here about 5 years now and I enjoy it, and I do all me workouts here and everything now so I'm happy.
D: And you've made friendships.
T: I have. I met a lot of people and they've lost a lot of weight as well.
Niki: I joined Healthy Inspirations about a week ago. I feel really comfortable coming here. I've felt intimidated in going to other gyms in the past. I've lost 2 and a bit kilos already and I'm feeling really good about myself already.
Pat: Hi, my name's Pat and I've been coming to Healthy Inspirations Balcatta since 2005 - I'm like a piece of furniture here. The staff are really good. The girls that come here are really friendly, sometimes you've just got to ignore them because they want to talk a little bit. Great place to lose weight because I go up and down all the time, every time I go on a holiday I put on stacks and I have to come back and get it all off, and it does work. The end.
