BODY CONTOURING WITH CELLSONIC
Targeting specific areas of fat and reducing it, can be difficult, if not impossible! The latest buzz surrounding ultrasound therapy, which is becoming an increasingly popular trend in body-contouring.
Ultrasound therapy targets specific fat deposits, offers an overall reduction in body circumference and sculpts the areas of the body people find hard to shift.
In many cases there can be other added benefits such as reduction in the appearance of cellulite, improved skin elasticity and increased blood flow.
Cellsonic is an ultrasound device used to treat unwanted fat by targeting specific fat cells in selected areas of the body. The Cellsonic operates by sending low-frequency ultrasound waves through 12 nodes on the body. This creates a micro-massage effect, causing the targeted fat cells to resonate or vibrate. The vibrating action transforms the stored fat into a liquid. The liquid fat is then eliminated via lymphatic drainage or used by the body as a ready energy supply for physical activity.
Although results vary for each individual, a measurable result can be achieved immediately after the first session, while most people obtain a visible result after two to five sessions. Optimal results can be achieved when the treatment is combined with regular physical activity and a balanced diet.

By Lesley C
We all lead very busy lives these days, and I have been no exception. Over the past ten or so years, I have travelled overseas, I have moved house several times, and taken new jobs as well as take care of my growing family, which now includes two little grandsons. All of this has been utterly wonderful, except that somewhere in that busy time, I forgot about me!
I have always been inclined to put on weight but usually, with a little more activity and watching what I eat, it would slowly drop down again, but during the past ten years, this old method did not work. Perhaps it was menopause, perhaps it was just my time of life, perhaps it was my genes, in the end I think it was probably a combination of all of this plus the fact that being busy doesn't always mean our bodies are moving enough. So in August of 2010 I realised that I was now wearing a size 18 and it was too tight! This meant I really should be in a size 20. At the same time I was invited to Hawaii for a wedding on the beach and realised everyone would be in swimsuits and sarongs and I was going to be the tubby one hiding behind all the tall people.
Hawaii was lovely, but I hid behind all the tall people and kept wrapped up in a sarong while everyone else was swimming. So on my return to Australia I realised I was sick of hiding behind tall people or making excuses when it came to photo-time. All my clothes were too tight and uncomfortable and it was now time for me to give to me!
I sat down and made a commitment to myself. My 60th birthday was coming up, my health was not good, as my blood pressure had risen to a very high state, and I was border-line diabetes! I looked in the mirror and saw a sad, fat old lady who went red in the face every time she walked up stairs, couldn't bend down to tie shoe laces, and certainly could not keep up with the grandkids. My commitment was that I would turn this around and begin to live again.
I joined Healthy Inspirations in September 2010, and began the program. I would love to tell you that it was easy, but it wasn't. My body had lost a lot of muscle-tone over the years and although I began to eat sensibly, the weight did not shift as quickly as I wanted however, I persevered, until Christmas. Christmas was a huge challenge because of family pressure and the fact that I seem to be the only one in the family who can cook. I ended up putting all the weight back on again, and a little more because I went back into my old patterns. It was during this time that I realised that these habits weren't going to be easy to kick.
In January of this year I made yet another personal commitment – I would go to Healthy Inspirations every single day, would also go for a long walk, return to yoga, and I would eat properly every single day. I signed my name and put this declaration on the fridge, under a fridge magnet that says "Anything is possible"!
I wasn't easy, because at first as my muscles and old lazy habits kept trying to interfere. But I remembered my promise, and had to look at it every time I went to the fridge. I got lots and lots of support and help from the girls at Healthy Inspirations. They suggested I do more aerobic exercises so I started to do a few minutes on the cross-trainer. The first time I went on it, I couldn't even get to two minutes! But I persevered and slowly moved up to five and then ten minutes. The first time I went on the stair-master I discovered that my legs had forgotten how to walk upstairs at any kind of pace. I could only manage a few minutes on the lowest setting. But as before, I slowly built up.
I stuck to healthy eating, drank lots of water, and slowly but surely I found my weight dropping. Again, the girls were very supportive and encouraged me at every stage and always had new suggestions and ideas. I began the nautilus training and as before found it challenging because my muscles were pretty much non-existent. Yet very soon my body became used to working with weights and I began to see my apple-shaped body return to its natural curves.
I committed to taking a long walk every single day, for at least an hour. Some days I would walk, then go to Healthy Inspirations and then a yoga class at the end of the day. I ate sensibly with lots of salads, proteins, skim milk and fresh fruit.
There were times when I seemed to plateau and no weight dropped and my fitness did not seem to improve, but I kept my promise to myself. By the end of March something seemed to just fall into place. Perhaps it was my new pattern overcoming the old patterns, but suddenly it seemed the fitness increased very rapidly and the weight started to melt off. I realised I was now actually enjoying the long walks and the good and healthy food. I found myself looking forward to coming into Healthy Inspirations and the thirty minutes on the cross-trainer and enjoyed working up a sweat and feeling fit and light on my toes.
Suddenly, it seemed, I had turned a corner and all the work I had put in at the beginning of the year was finally paying off! I felt light on my feet, I could chase the grandkids until they said "enough Nana!" and they needed to sit down! And, most satisfying of all, the size 18s were way too big for me.
I did all of this in only four and half months!
My secret is very simple. I made a commitment to myself, cleared my calendar and put myself and my health first. I realise that many women find this very difficult to do, but in the end we must remember that our families prefer a healthy and fit Mum. So many women find themselves in the same predicament. We tend to nurture everyone but ourselves.
I have worked very hard to break old patterns and create new and healthy patterns that I am determined to stick to. The rewards are immeasurable. My blood pressure is now normal, no sign of diabetes, no red-face when I walk up stairs, no chaffing in hot and sticky weather. I sleep better, I have lots of energy and I feel a million dollars.
I believe anyone can do this. But I have to warn you that it does take some time to re-train your body and your mind. I lost weight late last year, but I put it all back on when I fell back into my old patterns at Christmas-time. It takes a bit of time, and everyone is different, however, if you begin to put yourself first, if you make a commitment to your own life, body, health and lifestyle, you can overcome any obstacle.
The girls at Healthy Inspirations were indeed an inspiration. They were always happy to offer advice or suggestions. They educated me about my body, my muscles and metabolism, and I really don't think I could have done this without their encouragement. I tried to "diet" at home and tried the infamous "milkshake" diets that left me weak and hungry all the time. These days I eat hearty meals, including occasional treats, in moderation and still lose weight because I am now so active. The girls also explained that now my body has more muscle than fat content, that even when I am relaxing, I am using more calories. Looking back on my patterns, I see I was making some huge mistakes because I simply did not realise that muesli bars can be very high in fat, or that orange juice is also high in sugar. The girls explained these very simple facts and steered me towards low-fat and highly nutritional alternatives. I know have deeper insights into how my body works, what foods to eat and when, but most importantly, I now enjoy the utter joy of health regained.
I am now committed to me, and losing the final four kilos and then maintaining a healthy me. I now feel itchy and uncomfortable when I haven't taken a walk, run or exercise. I can stretch and move in my yoga class, and outdo girls twenty years my junior. Even though I am doing more than I have done for years, I actually have more energy. It all sounds backwards, but the healthier you are, the more energy you have. I am now looking forward to special photos taken on my 60th birthday, in nice new size 12 clothes followed by a fast game of footy with my grandkids. You might see me walking through The Pines Shopping Centre in my size 12 jeans and never realise that I was over 16kgs heavier just five months ago, and used to squeeze into size 18. It isn't a miracle, it is simply what happens when you make a commitment to yourself and find the right support team, which I have found at Healthy Inspirations – thanks girls!!!
Love Lesley.

Hi, my name is Cathy B. I am 40 years old. I have been married to my husband Paul for 17 years and have two children, Bec and Nath aged 14 and 12….
October 2008,
I’m unpacking the car…I’ve just been to the pool shop. I struggle to lift the bag of salt out of the car, so I call for my son to come and help me. As he goes to lift the bag out of the car I notice the weight on the bag…20 kilograms… and realise, oh my god this is how much weight I’ve just lost. No wonder I struggled walking up that hill every morning carrying that extra weight… how did my legs carry me…..
April 2008 – The Beginning
Each day I'd wake up and feel the same, depressed, exhausted, no energy, no motivation! My day starts… I get out of bed, organise the kids, go to work, come home, run everyone around to their sports/appointments, come home, cook dinner, do the washing, finally sit down and fall asleep! There must be more to life than this! My clothes size just keeps going up. I was now a tight size 16.
I need to make some drastic change in my life, but I’m not sure how to turn this all around!
I had seen the ad in the local paper for Healthy Inspirations and had even ripped it out. It sat on the bench for a few weeks. I kept thinking this is probably what I need. To lose some weight and get fit, but how was I going to fit this into my already hectic schedule. I woke up one Saturday and thought enough was enough and called Healthy Inspirations and made an appointment to go and see them.
This was the beginning of my life changing experience!
I joined the eating and exercise program at Healthy Inspirations and decided this was it…I needed to do this for me. I already suffered with high blood pressure and really I was time bomb waiting to go off!
I set my weight loss goal, which was to lose 20 kilos by Christmas! I also gave myself two affirmations which I regularly recited in my head…
“Just do it”
And
“I’ve tasted it before, I’ll taste it again, but just not right now!”
I knew there would be times where I was going to feel weak and could easily revert back to my old ways so I needed something to remind me constantly of what I was doing until it became habit.
I set an exercise program of walking every morning and attending Healthy Inspirations three times per week.
If there were times I was feeling weak and it was just easier not to do this… I reminded myself… “Just do it”… there were no excuses anymore.
I was tempted many times at work with birthday cake, as I work as a Teachers Aide in two Prep classrooms (that’s 50 cakes per year). Again, I reminded myself … “I’ve tasted it before, I’ll taste it again, but just not right now!”.
My weight loss journey began…a couple of weeks into the program the kilos started to drop off. This is a great feeling when this happens. I started to feel like I was in charge of my life again.
I started getting used to the new way of eating, (less carbs), and the good feeling I was getting out of exercising. I religiously filled out my daily eating journal, and was honest in my journal even when I was naughty. I found that by being honest with myself about what I was eating was half my problem. By writing down the things I shouldn’t be having, I was acknowledging that I’m not perfect, but this is OK every now and again and I was able to easily get back on the program the next day.
Don’t get me wrong… during my journey there’s been lots of ups and downs. There were times where I could easily have just gone home and polished off a bottle of wine…but, with the help and guidance of the girls at HI I was able to avoid and take control of certain situations which arose. Let’s face it … this is life… we are always going to be dealt with difficult situations in life, but I now know that food and alcohol don’t fix those problems.
July 2008 – Half Way There!
My 20% goals were now flying by… the kilos just kept coming off. I had reached my 60% goal already. People were starting to comment that I was looking good… which just made me more motivated and excited to continue with my weight loss journey. It’s hard to believe but I am now actually enjoying this and I can see the end in sight. I continue to journal all my food intake and exercising every day.
October 2008 – My Goal is Reached!
I can’t believe it!!! 20 kilos lighter!
It is Friday the 3rd of October 2008 and I have just weighed in…the scales read 63.6 kg… I am 20.4 kilos lighter and have lost a total of 83.5 cm. I am sooo excited…This is the best feeling ever and worth every bit of blood, sweat and tears over the last 6 months.
I can now buy nice clothes and feel good in them. I will enjoy going to the beach this summer and not having to hide and be embarrassed about how I look. Being overweight makes you feel very self conscious and causes you to lack confidence. I am amazed at the comments I get from friends and family as to “how good I look”.
A recent visit to my doctor also revealed that I may be able to stop taking my blood pressure medication which I have been on for about 8 years now.
The Future!
My journey is not over and never will be. Being conscious about what you are doing, like eating and looking after yourself is a life long commitment, but the more you do it the easier it gets to become habit in your life.
I’ve come to realise that as busy as your life gets you still need to respect yourself and take care of your body by regularly exercising and making sure you are eating the right things most of the time.
I have been really lucky to have a supportive husband and family around me. During my journey, I would come home from the gym and my kids would say “how did you go today mum?” I know they are proud of me for taking control of my life, not to mention the example I am now setting for them in their lives.
I believe my keys to success have been:
• Be organised;
• Be determined;
• Look to the future;
• Completing a daily journal of food intake (and being honest to yourself);
• No more excuses;
• Remind yourself of your affirmations regularly,
“I’ve tasted it before, I’ll taste it again, but just not right now!”
And lastly,
“JUST DO IT”.
I can truly say that the feeling I am experiencing now of being fit and healthy is worth every bit of the blood, sweat and tears it took to get here. I can now look in the mirror and be happy with what I see!
~ Cathy

Hi my name is Carol and this is a short story of my journey with Healthy Inspirations.
In February 2007 I noticed an ad in the local paper stating that I could achieve fitness in just three 30-minute workouts per week. I knew I needed much more than this fitness so I decided to ring and make an appointment to find out about the weight loss and fitness package available.
After the initial consultation I had a holiday of 2 weeks and this gave me time to realise I wanted what this programme could help me achieve, I was worth this, I could afford this time for myself and I wanted to know what made me put on weight, besides overeating.
I signed up in February 2007 and was asked to nominate my goal weight. Statistics were taken, photos and my goals noted. I was ready to commence my journey. I have been helped and encouraged by the greatest motivators and cheer squad you could imagine at The Pines Healthy Inspirations.
I kept my diary religiously as I believe this helps me to know what and when I need advice, what to change if things become static or, even if I become bored, there are different ways to achieve the same goal.
The staff can look at the diary and advise what might be changed and ask questions relevant to my circumstances and offer suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong.
I live with my daughter and her two teenage children and I explained that all the meals had to be eaten by my husband, daughter and family. All the food is off the supermarket shelf and if I want anything special without the additives they may want, I dish up mine before theirs and we have all gotten along fine without any special meals needed. I think they have eaten healthier because nothing unhealthy is in the cupboard, as I do not need temptations.
The team at the centre vary the exercise routine in small ways and challenge us all. This makes us realise we can do things we didn’t think we could and I find that I keep on doing these challenges each time I go to the gym.
This February I achieved my goal weight, having pretty regular losses each week for the past year. I look forward to maintaining this lifestyle for my own health and well being and I feel up to meeting challenges that may come my way.
I must also comment on the girls who are on this journey with me as they are all supportive of each other and myself, their encouragement means a lot and I am sure that they feel the same.
I believe that the most important thing that I have learned is that stress puts on weight in my case, not with overeating, but it seems to tell all my internal organs to shut down for a while, so I feel that relaxation is my next goal so I can just say goodbye to stress. After all we have to cope with stress and not put on weight don’t we? I look forward to the challenge of maintaining my weight with guidance and advice from the team. If anyone is thinking of losing weight and gaining fitness I believe you can achieve what you want,
“You will never know until you have a go….”
~ Carol

After 20 yrs of yo-yo dieting and then having 2 children, it was time to get ‘Mel back’!
My biggest fear was being the fat mum at the school gate when my eldest son started school in January 2008.
Then Healthy Inspirations called out to me! I heard radio adverts and saw newspaper articles too and 3 days later after telling my husband ‘that’s where I’m going!’ I joined Healthy Inspirations at The Pines Elanora. It was June 2007 and I weighed in at 94.1 kg.
I felt sad, lonely, uncomfortable and scared of the journey ahead with the aim of losing 24 kg. My goal in my daily journal was to be 70 kg by May 2008 (my 37th birthday). I embraced the Healthy eating plan. Making it work for me and my family by learning to understand food and how to make good choices. To my surprise I actually began to love the exercise routine and even began to run at the weekends.
Previously an exercise hater, I was amazed how much difference exercise made to my weight loss and my body shape. The weight steadily disappeared and I reached my initial goal of 70 kg 5 months later in November 2007 having lost 24.1 kg.
Now a few months further on, I have lost 30kg and am 100% fitter and in training for my first 10km Gold Coast Marathon. It truly feels like somebody has unzipped the old, overweight, frumpy me and let the real me out! I finally feel in control and feel great at the school gate!
