From diabetes warning... to true inspiration
This month Inspire recognises 31-year-old Simone Duncombe from Albury, NSW.
Simone's father has Type 2 diabetes and her GP warned her and her mother that if they don't lose weight they could soon have the disease too.
A yo-yo dieter since she was a young teenager, Simone is now learning what regular foods to eat to lose weight and prevent diabetes.
Since joining Healthy Inspirations in October 2005, Simone has lost
about 30kg on the program by exercising for 30 minutes three times a
week and following a personalised healthy eating plan based on regular
supermarket foods.
"Now I'm learning what's healthy to eat," she said. "I had always focused on eating low-fat foods, not realising they could be high in sugar and kilojoules. So it's educational to learn what to eat, what amounts to eat and when... That way you can go out and eat according to plan and not be restricted. I'm also eating much more than I used to!
"It's about learning how to eat for life."
Recently Simone was interviewed by Woman's Day magazine and she is a true inspiration.
